How we started

I grew up in Orono Minnesota, a small suburb by Minnetonka and Wayzata. I went to college for mechanical engineering in Montana and the University of Minnesota. I moved out to the Lake Tahoe area with a college friend to take some time off and became greatly inspired by the local artisans. It was then I decided to carry on my family heriatge of hardwood floors. Taking what I knew, I began to work alongside the most experienced and skilled craftsman in the west, honing in my skills and knowledge. I learned age old techniques, worked with unique materials, learned how to implement rustic with luxury, and refined professional sanding and finishing techniques as well. Being a skilled artisan, I see just how rare of a thing we are. You don't see the kind craftsmanship and detail that once was commonplace in every home. I captured the design, integrity, and innovation of the west and grafted them in to the way of life in the twin cities.

I had the opportunity to work on mountain homes that were cutting edge in design, incorporating an array of concepts while concious of their environmental impact as well. The design concepts are fascinating while they they take great care in minimizing the impact on lumber production and logging by recycling materials. There is no easier way to be green these days than to visit a local mill that is in the business of taking old wooden structures and reusing the materials. It's a great way to support your local economy and save our nations forests. In addition to the benefits of recycling these materials, the rich character they provide shows their true impact. The warmth and feel that these materials provide is something that manufactured materials can not replicate.
